If you like me grew up during the great flash era with websites like Newgrounds or fiddled with creating flash content yourself in Adobe Flash (or Macromedia Flash even!) then you’re probably well aware a lot of great content was created with it. Games, animations and more created a boatload of memories and nostalgia.
Sadly, Adobe retired Flash and the final downloadable version of Flash Player was version 32. This version also had a “kill switch” to make sure that after the EOL (End Of Life) period would not start anymore unless you changed the date on your computer. It’s been a few years since and Flash hasn’t seen a return for download.
I thought this was the end for me as well regarding being able to play Flash Player content locally but I discovered quite a while ago that there was one more official Adobe Flash build available through Adobe’s Animate software. Inside its software package are executables for Flash Player 35 and its Debugger variant Flash Player Debugger 35.
I’m happy to say these executables are completely portable requiring no installation and are digitally signed by Adobe themselves. As such they should run on most Windows devices. I backed those Windows executables up for archiving purposes.
